Quitters and Krav Maga Survivors (Krav Maga Insights from Preston and Blackpool)
The difference between surviving and succumbing to a confrontation may be the difference in the thought process between a victim and a survivor. This is not the over confidence that the The Black Knight suffers from in Monty Pythons Quest for the Holy Grail when he refuses to give up.
It’s more an attitude of wanting to overcome all the obstacles in your training and life. Focus, hard work and consistency are some of the key factors in the making of a champion. Knowing how to train and develop your mind and body will increase your chances of surviving an altercation. So how do you go about it?
First it starts with developing your best asset, your grey matter. Whilst we control our thoughts, we can influence our destiny. Maybe not to the point of a stage hypnotist that convinces that you’re the best singer in the world. But on a practical level, we can take away excuses for failing or quitting. This is all about attitude which can make the difference. For example, when you don’t feel like attending a Krav Maga Class, maybe you’re tired from a long day at work or one of the other myriad of excuses that you put in your own way so you don’t achieve your goal. You have to train and condition your mind to focus on your goal so you have an infallible desire to achieve it.
If two people of similar strength and fighting skill meet, my money is on the person with the stronger mind to be victorious. Ok, so you get the point, don’t skip class and train like your life depends on it. Now it’s time to consider how to train the mind. Take time to visualize your techniques in your mind with a clear, detailed and realistic picture.
Start by visualising that your technique did not work, then visualise it working reasonably well. Go through this sequence until you visualise a perfect execution of a technique for about 5 minutes. This will feed positive messages to your subconscious mind with a desire to overcome hurdles. To improve on this visualisation, you can start to use other senses. SMELL the scents of the Krav Maga Class. TASTE the salt from your sweat in your mouth. HEAR your Krav Maga instructor shouting your name and encouraging you.
You’re already surrounding yourself with positive people in the Preston and Blackpool Krav Maga lessons who push you to be you’re very best, believe in you and your ability to achieve your goals. This will help you to achieve them. Having supportive people around will help deflect negative thinking and will rub off on you, we become who we hang out with. The mind cannot tell what is real or imagined when you keep telling it something. You will subconsciously begin believing these messages. Attracting people in your life that will help you reach your goal and you will begin ACTING, TRAINING and FIGHTING like a survivor.
